“The world had been taking slow bites of him his whole life” – The Passage by Justin Cronin
Phobia – a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.
At first I thought it was paranoia, but that didn’t accurately define my current state of mind.
My early life as a Military Brat was all about change. 4 years here. 2 years there. In the Pacific – American Deep South – Europe – Western US – Middle East. I’ve been everywhere man – I’ve been everywhere. And loved it. On to the next adventure. Wow.
What a life.
Now that I’ve matured (aged-grown old) I’ve developed a fear of change. That sense of adventure has vanished. Change is bad. I want things to stay the way they are.
Folks, I have a phobia.
The flux in the oil field is beginning to really irritate me.
Trepidation……………….Damn your hide.
I want my friends back. My security. My faith in tomorrow.
